Job Description

The Buying Director is considered a key role within the company, as purchasing and product development are highly prioritized. As Buying Director, you will be part of the management team and report directly to the CEO. Your responsibilities will include leadership and full P&L accountability. The position is based at the company’s headquarters in Stockholm, with travel expected to producers and factories to support the buying process and ensure product quality and delivery reliability.

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Overall responsibility for purchasing, product development, and merchandise flow Lead and develop the buying and assortment team, ensuring they have the information needed regarding purchasing and related matters.
• Be responsible for and improve functions and processes within purchasing and assortment.
• Create resources and systems to support the team in maintaining and enhancing efficiency and performance.
• Be accountable for the department’s budget and results (KPIs, tracking, driving performance, gross margin).
• Set departmental goals in line with business plans, budget, and results, and lead development projects approved by the board and CEO, all in alignment with the company’s overall objectives     

Profile and Experience

To succeed as Buying Director, it is crucial that you combine a sharp focus on quality with strong leadership and excellent interpersonal skills. A passion for product development, design, and material knowledge is central to this role. You will be responsible for strategically purchasing, negotiating, and developing products that are both commercially successful and unique.

We are looking for someone with experience in a similar role, involving both product development and purchasing. Experience from an international medium or large retail company is an advantage. You must have a deep understanding of the entire process, from concept and development to launch and driving sales. Your ability to manage complex workflows and effectively prioritize in a fast-paced environment will be key to your success.

• Bachelor’s degree in Buying or equivalent.
• Experience of working within the fashion industry.
• Strong international experience. 
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar position.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience of formal leadership. 
• Fluent in English and Swedish, both spoken and written.
